Turning flue gas into fiber

How captured CO₂ becomes a woven laminate — and why Carboweave reaches −2.2 tons of carbon per ton produced.

Carbon capture has a storage problem. Pull CO₂ out of an industrial flue and you're left with a compressed gas that has to be pumped underground and monitored, more or less forever, at a cost with no product at the end of it. Carboweave treats that same flue gas as a feedstock instead of a liability.

The loop, end to end

The Carboweave carbon loop runs in four steps:

  • Capture. CO₂ is taken from a partner facility's flue stream — the gas that would otherwise go up the stack.
  • Fix. In the bioreactor, engineered strains fix that carbon into a continuous bio-polymer filament. The carbon atoms in the exhaust become carbon atoms in the fiber.
  • Weave. Filaments are woven into a multi-axial fabric and consolidated, cold, into a stiff laminate panel.
  • Lock. Installed in a building, that carbon stays put for the structure's service life — decades to a century.

The deepest sink in the catalog isn't a coincidence. Carboweave is almost entirely fixed carbon by mass.

Why it sinks the most

Every Zoeus family is carbon-negative, but Carboweave leads because it is the purest expression of the idea — a thin, high-surface-area laminate that is nearly all fixed-carbon fiber, with little else in the mix. The flagship ZX plate reaches −2.2 tons of CO₂ per ton produced. Put another way: for every ton of Carboweave in a building, more than two tons of carbon dioxide have been taken out of a smokestack and turned into structure.

Verification

A carbon claim is only as good as its accounting. Every Carboweave batch is tracked cradle-to-gate under a third-party lifecycle assessment, from the source flue stream through to the finished panel, so the number that ships on the material passport is one a project can put in its own carbon report.
